What Is Self Storage?
Self storage is the storage by individuals and companies of goods in their own self contained, secure room.
You can rent your own lockable secure room of practically any size for as long a period as you require. You are the only person to hold the key and you can come and go as often as you like during the facility's opening hours.
How much does it cost?
We have a whole range of different sized units available from a small locker to the size of a double garage. We also have warehouse space from 10 sq ft – 14,000 sq ft. What does the price include?
All prices include the room charge, rates, service, utility bills and maintenance costs. There is no VAT to pay on our storage rooms.
Are the storage rooms alarmed?
All our storage rooms are alarmed. Within our opening hours, in the unlikely event that your room is opened when you are not present on site, alarms will sound in reception and throughout the facility. Out of hours, your room alarm will be linked straight to our local monitoring station via our BT Redcare System.
Are there any other security features?
There are a number of other security features including:
Externally – 7ft perimeter fence, PIN coded access control to gain entry through main gate, CCTV, perimeter of building alarmed.
Internally – PIN coded sliding door entry control, CCTV, padlocked rooms.
Are my items insured?
All items must be insured whilst in storage. We have a tailor made policy for great value cover at an affordable price with complete flexibility. Remember, you are responsible for insuring your belongings whilst in storage.
Do I need to provide any ID when I sign up?
You will need to spend 5 minutes filling out a simple agreement. For this you will need to provide two forms of ID. These are preferably a Photo Driving Licence or Passport AND proof of address for the last 3 months ie. a Utility Bill (mobile phone bills are not accepted).
How often can I have access to my items?
Unlimited access is available free of charge during our long opening hours, seven days a week.
Do I need my own padlock?
Yes, as only you have access to your unit. You can buy one of our great value padlocks at Reception.
Do you sell boxes and packing materials?
Packing materials can be purchased at Reception or online via our Box Shop. We stock an extensive range of packing materials from boxes to bubble wrap.
Do I have to reserve a unit in advance?
No, you just need to complete and sign a storage agreement form and then you can move your goods in immediately. To ensure the best service possible for you, we would appreciate some notice and an advanced reservation if possible.
How do I deliver and collect my items for storage?
There is a large loading bay for loading and unloading your items. You can bring your goods in your own vehicle, a hired vehicle or a removal vehicle. Remember, we offer a 25% discounted removal service via our sister company, The Removal Team.
What is the minimum storage period?
Our minimum storage period is just two weeks.
Do I have to give any notice to vacate my storage space?
Our domestic customers need to give 14 days notice and our business customers need to give 28 days notice when storing for 28 days or longer. This can be done by simply filling out and handing in one of our Vacation Notices given to you when first signing up. You can also give your notice to vacate in writing by email, fax or letter.
Do you have trolleys available?
There are a number of different sized trolleys and pallet trucks available free of charge for customer use.
Is there a forklift truck on site?
We have a forklift truck available for any pallets or heavy goods. These can either be operated by yourself, providing you show proof of a valid licence, or on your behalf by one of our trained members of staff.
What size units are available?
We have a whole range of different sized units available from a small locker to the size of a double garage and everything in between. Usually, the rooms increase in size in 25sqft increments and range from 25sqft to 225sq ft. Check out our space calculator which guides you to the space you require in square foot.
If you require larger room space, it is no problem for us to fabricate a room to your exact spatial requirements.
Along with storage rooms, we offer warehouse space from 10 sq ft – 14,000 sq ft.
What if my goods won’t fit into my storage unit?
Depending on availability, you can transfer your items to a larger unit.
Can you accept deliveries and dispatch goods on my behalf?
Yes we can but please give us notice in advance.
How long can I rent my unit for?
You can rent your unit for as long as you want. The minimum storage period is two weeks.
Are the units heated?
Even though the units are not heated, the temperature within them tends to be fairly constant. The storage depots are very well insulated so that items stored are never too hot or cold.
Are there any limitations on what I can store?
You can store anything as long as it is not illegal, flammable or perishable. If you are not sure, please consult one of our members of staff who will only be too happy to answer your questions.
What payment does The Storage Team accept?
A number of payment options are available including cash, debit or credit card, BACS or Standing Orders. We also accept cheques but unfortunately not as an initial form of payment.
Is there someone at the store I can talk to should I have a problem?
There will always be a member of staff available during our long opening times.
What are The Storage Team’s opening hours?
Monday – Friday: 8.00am – 6.00pm
Saturday: 9.00am – 4.00pm
Sunday: 10:00am – 2:00pm
We are closed Bank Holidays.
